Celebrating The life of Eng. Joel Otieno Sabaya

It is with deep sorrow and humble acceptance of God’s will that we announce the demise of our Patriarch, Eng. Joel Otieno Sabaya, which occurred on 10th March, 2022 while undergoing treatment at Aga Khan Hospital - Kisumu. Son of the late Mzee Oduong’o Sabaya and the late Leah Asin and, Salome Aloo of Awendo, Migori County. Beloved husband to Hon. Elizabeth Alila Ochaye-Sabaya, Migori County Government. Loving father to Lakiesha Asin Sabaya and Lance Okang’a Sabaya.

Son-in-law to James Patrick Ochaye and the late Emmah Atieno Ochaye of Uyoma Kagwa. Brother to the late Lameck Ombonya, the late Wilfred Akoko, Paul Sabaya, the late Barrack Sabaya, the late Grace Otieno, Richard Oduongo, the late Johnwilliam Chunga, Dr. Peter Kembo (USA) and Ezekiel Owino. Brother-in-law to Walter Adede, the late Zilper and Susan Ombonya, Rosemary, Margaret, Mary Sabaya, the late Pamela, Linet, Pamela Owino, Frank Gaunye Ochae, Zedekiah Aloo and Gershom Ochae. Uncle to Michael, Rachael, Davies, Monica Peter Paul, Charlie, Ben, George (all of USA), Beatrice Ombonya, Ray, Leah, Linda, Emily, Beatrice, Josy, Jane, Dan, Steve, Opiyo, Odongo, Akello, Samuel, Martha, Beldina, George, Onyango, Odhiambo, Ouma, Nicholas, Sabaya, Fred, Robert, Sheila, Rose, and Kelvin. His Grandchildren include Talia, Duane, Riana, Malca, Nidal, Jaydan, Ethen, Skye, Dilan, and Kwame, Kodjo, Lameck (all of USA) among others.

Prayers and meetings are taking place daily at his rural home in Mariwa, Awendo.

The cortège leaves Aga Khan Hospital mortuary, Kisumu on Thursday 24th March, 2022 at Noon, for a prayer service at St. Pauls ACK Church Pe-Hill, Awendo, Migori County. The burial ceremony will take place on Friday, 25th March, 2022 at his home in Mariwa, Awendo, Migori County.
